Everyone:
Welcome Dan Frank (aka MinecraftOnTheBlock) to Krafters! He is now recording a new SMP LP at the server! We should all be nice and check his videos, like and subscribe!
Also, he might need the occasional meat chop so…
He already uploaded 2 episodes from the server and… he found an amazing cave:
We're looking for more LPers willing to start an SMP LP series from the server. If you're interested, contact me directly and we'll work together to improve the quality of our community. We're in the process of developing some "Rules & Guidelines" but we'd love to get your input if you're interested!
Cheers,
-Syrkaz

So, I started an LP and you should check and maybe (hopefully) subscribe…
I have 5 episodes up already and I'm trying to aim for 2 episodes/week (for now).
Here's the first episode:
Hope you like it! I appreciate any feedback!
Also, I'd appreciate some likes on my Facebook page so I can snag the username…
Cheers!

Mojang released Minecraft 1.2.5 earlier today. Since we're running a vanilla server, we were able to update immediately… YAY
1.2.5 is a pretty minor release but here are a rundown of the updates:
I'm particularly excited about the fixes regarding ghost entities (a big problem in SMP), especially when using TNT to clear out sections (e.g. slime farms). The jury is still out on the cat changes…
Well, come join us and have fun!

1.2.5 is a pretty minor release but here are a rundown of the updates:
- Added shift clicking support in furnaces
- Added method to easily acquire blocks you have selected in the world in Creative mode using the ‘pick block’ key
- Made the Direct Connect dialog remember the last IP for the current session
- Made cats less eager to sit on things
- Made cats less patient
- Removed all ghost entities under the command of Lord Herobrine
- Made using a stack of bowls on Mooshrooms not consume the whole stack of bowls
- Made punching a TNT block with flint and steel in hand destroy and drop a TNT block (right-clicking will activate the TNT)
- Bunch of bug fixes

Hey everyone!
Big news: starting April 1st, Krafters will open for applications to anyone. FREE! =D
Here's how you can start playing on the brand new world we will generate on April 1st:

For those who have been playing for a while, we will make the current world available for download so you can play on your single player Minecraft.
Here's a few details about the changes:
What about the creative world?
We will run a separate creative world but it will not start until we figure some things out technically.
What will be the world settings?
The world will be PvP, hard difficulty, normal day/night cycles, pure survival. PS: get creative to get creepers out of your buildings! Hint: cats!
Why a new world?
Well, for many reasons with the main one being this world was generated in a very old Minecraft version and there have been some radical modifications to the biome code in more recent versions which screwed up a lot of it. Secondly, we want to bring more people in and the original buildings were built with a small community in mind.
Why Krafters? Why another free Minecraft server?
Put simply: because we think we have some great ideas on how to run this community and have a few awesome plans for the future!
Krafters is not about Minecraft: it's about the community! We just happen to love Minecraft and think it's a great game to play with friends and with just random awesome people!
Running a Minecraft server is expensive!!! How do you pay the bills?
Glad you ask!
Well, we live off of donations and the kind heart of our members! We'll put a post up very soon with details on how much it costs to run things and how much money we need to keep everything running. No admin is profiting with Krafters! All donations are used to run Krafters exclusively. Pinky promise!
What is Minecraft?
Hmm… Wikipedia? #lazy
Are you guys nuts?
Some say we are. Actually, we're pretty sure we are.
If you have any questions, reply to this thread!

- You can apply directly

Here's a few details about the changes:
- It will start as simply vanilla Minecraft (not Bukkit!) so no plugins, etc…
- It's a whitelisted server (you need to be in that whitelist to get in)
- There will be a main city. Every new applicant will get a lot there to build their "welcome" building. We encourage creativity…

- Once you've settled in the main city, you should go out and find yourself a spot (far enough from anyone else that you can't see each other) where you can then build your fancy stuff and do the mining (think 200-300 blocks away from each other, at least).
- No warps mean recommended means of travel are through the nether and with minecarts. We plan on creating a railroad/tunnel system in the nether. We will have to link portals at the same layer so not a lot of climbing up/down will be needed.
- In case you haven't noticed, the idea is having a server very similar to the one Guude started with Mindcrack.
- With time, we may drift away from that model (start using Bukkit, etc) but those are the ground rules for now.

Here's a quick rundown of new features (along with many bug fixes):
For those of you who like me want a visual of the new blocks, VintageBeef did a pretty short and sweet video explaining them:
As for the server, we will update it as soon as possible. I'll keep you guys informed on that!
Here's a quick rundown of new features (along with many bug fixes):
- Chat history and much better chat editing
- You can click on links in chat
- Scroll up/down for history
- Up/down keys for recently sent messages
- Tab complete for player names
- Copy & paste in chat
- A few new decoration blocks
- Wooden planks now have the colour of the type of wood they came from instead of the original wooden plank texture.
- New Sandstone Blocks
- “Back” and “Quit” buttons to OutOfMemoryScreen
- Cats will now sit on chests and beds, preventing players from using them.

So, four of us (me, Mike Burns, Michael Kemp and Josh Burns) got together and started a "hardcore" Minecraft video series: no health regen other than through Golden Apples, Glistering Melons and/or health potions.
We'd love to have everyone watch, like, favorite and comment on it!
In the future we plan on doing other series: adventure maps and RFW (Race For the Wool)! For the RFW maps we'd love to do 4v4 so if anyone else wants to play with/against us, that'd be awesome! Let us know…
Here's the video:
Don't forget to like, favorite *and* comment something nice!
More to come…

Hey guys,
So we've been doing what we can to get everything up & running with 1.2 but there have been some glitches while we wait for a final release of Bukkit and of some of the plugins. You may recall that we lost the warp functionality. We have now restored it and migrated the old database (if you created a new warp since yesterday with the same name, we kept the new one).
Right now, we're still fighting off some glitches but things are overall pretty smooth. We lost our 10:1 day:night ratio and, mobs are back… They will target you yet they can't hurt you (jumpy, much?). If you want the full-blown Minecraft experience, you can play on the survival world!
Thank you for your patience and…

Of all the news in the Minecraft world of late, one of the most exciting is that Mojang just hired (yesterday) 4 of the main Bukkit developers, the awesome server mod that allows for plugins and mods. This is great news as it means Mojang is getting serious about the Mod API and they'll what these guys have learned from developing Bukkit. Hopefully, they'll make it compatible with a lot of the existing plugins and mods.
This is really exciting and, here at KRFT, we're definitely going to keep a keen eye on further developments on this.

Minecraft 1.2 has been in "public" development for a while. You can search YouTube for videos of the many snapshots. It's a pretty significant update and here's a quick rundown of new features/changes:
- Added a defense mob to villages
- Added up-side-down stairs
- Many changes to the world and lighting system
- Added new world file format called “Anvil” (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*)
- Multi-player light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own
- Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available
- Some nights in villages will be worse than others…
- Added a redstone-controlled light source
- Decreased chance for the rare mob drops
- All animals use the new AI system now
- Maximum build height has been increased to 256 (was 128)
- Empty sections of the world are not loaded into memory
- Block ids have been increased to 4096 (was 256) by adding a 4 bit data layer (similar to how meta data is stored)
- Block ordering have been changed from x/z/y to y/z/x in order to improve compression
- Packets for sending chunks have been updated (a full 128-high chunk is smaller than the old format, and a chunk with lots of empty space is much smaller)
- Biomes are saved per x/z column, which means they can be altered by tools
- Doors have been changed to properly detect if they are open or closed. Double doors in existing maps will need to be updated
- Villagers will move indoors during night and rain, and socialize with each other
- Zombies will break down wooden doors on hard difficulty
- Added cat sounds
- Better movement for mobs in water
- Added rare mob item drops
- Many mob-related bug fixes (and some new behaviors)
- Ocelots are easier to tame, and cats can be told to sit
- Villagers will try to detect village houses and live in them
- Updated language files (now with 50% less profanities!)
- New jungle-specific mob that can be tamed
- Skeletons have new AI and a few new behaviors
- Added an experience item to creative mode
- Added a flame item…
- Ladders regained their collision box, and vines are climbable when they have a solid block behind them
- Added jungle biome (requires a new world) with new tree and leaf types
- Dispensers will place mobs instead of releasing the spawner egg
- Zombies have new path-finding AI
- Wolves have new AI and can be bred (when tame)

Hey guys,
It's been a long time coming but we finally managed to do some housekeeping and some upgrades around here. There a lot more things coming soon like you've probably seen hinted at via our Twitter account (which you should follow) but right now, we've focused on getting this new homepage and forum (and chat!! w00t) to help drive the community together. Do invite anyone you want to have hang out here… Registrations are open and we can certainly benefit from more input!
Okay: let us know what you think, bugs you find and things you break! We'll keep improving… We'll call this a "beta"!
-LF
PS: If you're a current subscriber, please send me a private message after you signup so I can add you to the right group ("Full Member" or "VIP"). VIPs do get a private forum but nothing else is setup yet…
PS2: The old forums are still available. We tried migrating them to the new format but had no luck. We'll keep them online for archival purposes for a while though…
